Thanks, I think I understand, so the interface is actually being called from the below and an instance of a certain class is being returned with the hydrated properties in it.
So the “something” that I’m passing is a POCO to populate.
Why is the “something” a POCO if it can be a custom POCO?

Then I’d make a DatabaseUnitOfWork implementation which uses a SqlConnection. Finally I’d have a UnitOfWork implementation that uses some persistence model. You could encapsulate each approach with a factory and make the factory implement an IUnitOfWork. That would really get you going.

New Twist in Amtrak Probe
The FBI is subpoenaing the records of a key informant in the investigation into an Amtrak train derailment that left two people dead and dozens injured, the Associated Press has learned.
The disclosure comes a day after Amtrak President Sean Joyce told members of Congress that the rail operator had not been given enough time to explain everything uncovered by the FBI, which has been conducting a months-long investigation.
The back and forth between Joyce and lawmakers has the attention of investigators. Whether the subpoena for the records of a person who has agreed to help the FBI is considered critical to the investigation will be seen as a challenge for the federal agency.
The FBI has said the person’s name can’t be disclosed because of a federal law that forbids the unauthorized disclosure of the identity of informants in certain cases.
In all, the FBI has said 31 people have been interviewed so far and more than 90 other pieces of evidence have been collected, including videos and documents.
The FBI’s disclosure comes on the same day that Amtrak Board of Directors Chairman Robert Liverant told a Senate committee that the FBI has given the company a list of “key areas” that it plans to examine.
Liverant said the FBI is “essentially going house to house” and examining the train’s operations. He described the probe as “extraordinarily intensive.”
Liverant said the FBI has already begun to examine Amtrak’s computer systems, and he said the FBI plans to search the Amtrak network’s records for any indication of financial mismanagement, tampering with or sabotage.
The railroad is also looking at its payroll systems for anomalies.

It can be a bit of a pain to create a bunch of records using a database and get them back in an ORM tool. There are so many possible records you can create! The Object hydrator has a very easy to use API and can handle a variety of types of objects.
All it takes to use it is to define the class that you want to hydrate and define the names of the functions you want it to call. The requirements for the arguments are pretty easy to understand so there is no need to write custom code for each type of object. So all you need to know to is what types of objects your need to hydrate.
Just like I mentioned above, this is to replace a database call, to make your life easier. It is pretty easy to use.
