What’s New In?

TreeDraw Viewer is a free utility for loading and printing TDR files created with TreeDraw v2 or later, or which have been converted with other programs.

Adding people to existing family tree files

To add a new person to an existing family tree, launch the program and click New on the File menu. On the New Person screen, select Add from Family Tree and then the individual you want to add. The new person will be added to your genealogy file.

Creating new family tree files from scratch

To create a new family tree, click New on the File menu. A new window opens to create a new genealogy chart. A tree type is automatically selected from the tree style menu. The Tree Style menu includes 9 different types of tree: Direct Chain, Radial, Tree Line, Binary, Free Line, Tree Line w/ Gaps, Reverse Tree Line, Polar Tree Line and Vertical Tree Line.

Each tree type includes several different layouts. The default is Tree Line, which adds a top-level vertical hierarchy that has two levels: children and grandchildren. You can also choose the following layout types:

Three Generations – Includes 3 generations of a family, each on its own line. The first generation is listed on the left side, the second on the center line and the third on the right. The top line is considered the primary family line and should be arranged in the order of generation, from oldest to youngest.

Alternate Line – A single line with two alternate branches, usually used for consanguineous or side lines.

Notes – A line with both name and descriptive notes attached to each entry.

Wedding – A line with a title, starting with the bride’s or groom’s surname, and with a list of all of their children.

Kids – A line of parents, with each child listed on its own line below it.

Paternity – A line of both parents with all of their children listed below them.

Transit – A line of all travelers to the location, arranged by type (passenger, soldier, etc.).

Memory Line – A line with each person listed with a description of what they remember about their ancestor.

Map Line – A list of where each person was born or lived, with a few key locations added to give a general idea of where they may have traveled.

Individual Line – A single line with each person listed on the line.

Single Name – A single line of all people with a given name.

Foreign Name – A line of all people who used a different name.

Single Name w/ Marriage – A line of all people with a given name and a surname, arranged by marriage.

Single Name w/ Children – A line of all people with a given name and a surname, arranged by number of children.
